Matthew 10:37-38

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Matthew 10:37-38 KJV] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

At the time that Matthew wrote this the cross was well known as an instrument of death.

What Jesus is telling us is that if we truly follow Him then we need to be prepared to suffer death at the hands of persecutors.

Is there this type of persecution in the world today? In some countries it is a mark of death. Even here in the United States there is some persecution. For example, I have been called a racist and a hater because of my Christianity and that is a form of persecution.

Going back to the verses, in Matthew 10:37 we are told that we are to love Jesus above all; even above family. This may seem difficult, but this is what we must do. For example, say your sister has become a Wiccan and wants to convert you. Converting would be throwing your love for God aside.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
