Peace to you my brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: [Matthew 14:28-31 KJV] And Peter answered him and
said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said,
Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to
go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth
[his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith,
wherefore didst thou doubt?
When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water his faith kicked into high gear, so
high that he could join Jesus walking on water. But, when Peter realized where
he was and what he was doing, doubt creeped in and he began to sink and needed
to be rescued by Jesus.
All of us who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior have been there, too. We
believe, but we get our eyes off the Lord and onto the trial that looms before
us. If you put a penny close to your eye, it will block out the brilliance of
the sun. If you let a trial consume your vision, it will block the glorious
power of the Almighty God.
Take a look at Zacharias in Luke 1. He is working in the temple when Gabriel
appears and gives him the promise of a son. Zacharias should have been filled
with joy because this is what he and Elizabeth had been praying for every day
for years but he also knew that he and his wife were advanced in years and this
was an impossibility.
[Luke 1:18-20 KJV] And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know
this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel
answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and
am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold,
thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things
shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be
fulfilled in their season.
We know the rest of the story and also know that all things are possible for
God.
We know that even the righteous struggle with doubt. We should also know that the
root of doubt is not a lack of evidence, but the root is in our fallen nature.
The solution is to open our eyes and see that God always does what he says that
He will do.
He said that we would have a savior and we do through Jesus. God came in the
flesh to suffer, die, and resurrect for us. His resurrection defeated the final
enemy, death. Even though we may die a physical death, we will not die the
spiritual death in the lake of fire because of what Jesus did for us. When doubt
creeps in, we need to remember this and believe.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
