Hebrews 12:1-2

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV] Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is our role model. He endured the pain and humiliation of the cross for us.

Author: ἀρχηγός archēgós, ar-khay-gos'; from G746 and G71; a chief leader:—author, captain, prince.

Finisher: τελειωτής teleiōtḗs, tel-i-o-tace'; from G5048; a completer, i.e. consummater:—finisher.

Jesus is the beginning and fullness of our faith.

In this we have a race set before us; a race in which we should not turn to the right or left but run straight in faith.

We have many eyes upon us in this race so we should strive to show them what true Christianity looks like. We need to show them what love for God and love for neighbor really is.

Finally, there is this part of these verses that so often gets ignored; “and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.

Set down: καθίζω kathízō, kath-id'-zo; another (active) form for G2516; to seat down, i.e. set (figuratively, appoint); intransitively, to sit (down); figuratively, to settle (hover, dwell):—continue, set, sit (down), tarry.

Right hand: δεξιός dexiós, dex-ee-os'; from G1209; the right side or (feminine) hand (as that which usually takes):—right (hand, side).

Add this:

[Psalm 110:1 KJV] [[A Psalm of David.]] The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

And add this:

[Matthew 28:18 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Power: ἐξουσία exousía, ex-oo-see'-ah; from G1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, i.e. (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely, magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence:—authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.

Note in the definitions is authority and jurisdiction.

Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and all authority and jurisdiction has been given to Him. Matthew 28:18 was after His resurrection which means He has been ruling since His resurrection. Paul confirmed that in Hebrews 12:2.

[Daniel 2:37 KJV] Thou, O king, [art] a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

[Revelation 19:16 KJV] And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

King of kings means that Jesus is the King of all kings on the earth. Lord of lords means that Jesus is the Lord over all the lords on the earth. He is above all and rules and reigns in His kingdom at this very moment. He has His vesture on.

With this confirmed information before you; that Jesus rules, reigns, and has authority over all things in this earth then we must do our part to make His enemies His footstool. Do not wait for the rapture, get involved. Show your neighbors what Christianity really looks like. We have the authority to do this in His name.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
