Mark 7:20-23

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Mark 7:20-23 KJV] And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

The Hebrews believed that the heart was the source of intellect and thought.

This verse tells us that man’s heart is the root of his evil. All the bad thoughts start there.

[Galatians 5:22-23 KJV] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Temperance: ἐγκράτεια enkráteia, eng-krat'-i-ah; from G1468; self-control (especially continence):—temperance.

Temperance is self-control.

The Holy Spirit is a gift given us by God. One of the fruits of that gift is self-control. Self-control helps us control the evil in our heart. Thus, if we have the Holy Spirit then we have control of our heart.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
