Revelation 21:6-8

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Revelation 21:6-8

Verse Text: [Revelation 21:6-8 KJV] And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Fearful: δειλός deilós, di-los'; from δεός deós (dread); timid, i.e. (by implication) faithless:—fearful.

From Thayer's Greek Lexicon: δειλός, -ή, -όν, (δείδω to fear), timid, fearful: Matthew 8:26; Mark 4:40; in Revelation 21:8 of Christians who through cowardice give way under persecutions and apostatize. (From Homer down.)

Basically, afraid.

[Matthew 10:28 KJV] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

So, why are the fearful tossed in the lake of fire? Fear is a sin. Fear is lack of faith in God.

[Daniel 3:16-18 KJV] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we [are] not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be [so], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver [us] out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

If anyone should have had fear it was Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego because they were about to be tossed into the fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar yet they knew God was going to keep them safe. Regardless if He did not, they still had no intention of serving his gods.

Returning to our verses, these are the promises given by God; to the righteous, eternal life, and to the wicked, the lake of fire. The fearful are among the wicked.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Peace.
