Acts 7:59-60

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Acts 7:59-60

Verse Text: [Acts 7:59-60 KJV] And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [God], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

In Acts 7:59 there should have been a period after Stephen. It would read better as, “And they stoned Stephen. Calling upon [God], Stephen said, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit’”.

In Acts 7:60 we said a great act of forgiveness. Before he died Stephen forgave those that had just killed him.

Here are some verses on how we should forgive:

[Ephesians 4:31-32 KJV] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

[Mark 11:25 KJV] And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

[Colossians 3:13 KJV] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye.

[Matthew 6:12 KJV] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And here are some teachings on forgiveness:

[Romans 12:18-21 KJV] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

[Matthew 5:39-41 KJV] But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

[Proverbs 17:9 KJV] He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth [very] friends.

[Luke 6:35-36 KJV] But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

[Proverbs 10:12 KJV] Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

And God will always help us forgive:

[John 14:26-27 KJV] But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

[1 Peter 5:7 KJV] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

[Philippians 4:13 KJV] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

[2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV] And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

[Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I know that forgiveness is not always in me but I need to learn to just put it in His hands and His will, will be done.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Peace.
