Matthew 9:20-22

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 9:20-22

Verse Text: [Matthew 9:20-22 NKJV] 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well." 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.

The woman had a flow of blood. Luke tells us a little more about her.

[Luke 8:43-44 NKJV] 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

She had spent all her livelihood on doctors to cure her; that is, she had depended on man for her cure to this point.

[Leviticus 15:19 NKJV] 19 'If a woman has a discharge, [and] the discharge from her body is blood, she shall be set apart seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening.

This woman should have been apart from others because of her flow of blood and she probably was to this point but she heard of Jesus and her heart told her that He could cure her so she took the chance to mingle with the crowd, touch him, and be cured.

She had an extreme amount of faith in Jesus. She had the faith of the centurion.

[Matthew 8:5-10 NKJV] 5 Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6 saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented." 7 And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8 The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 "For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this [one], 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does [it]." 10 When Jesus heard [it], He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

The centurion knew without a doubt that Jesus could heal his servant. This is the kind of faith we need now.

[Matthew 17:20 NKJV] 20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

It is this kind of faith that brings us to this:

[Psalm 110:1 NKJV] 1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."

His work on the cross does not lead to failure as the modern church teaches. His Holy Spirit will lead us to victory for Him. The modern church shows us a world of ever degrading values that causes a war that only Jesus can stop but, if we care to look in scripture, that is not it at all; Jesus leads His church through His Holy Spirit to an everlasting victory over His enemies to make His enemies His footstool.

Some examples of this can be found in Psalm 72, Isaiah 2, Matthew 13:31-33, and:

[Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV] 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age." Amen.

We are the ones Jesus is depending on to lead our fellow man to making His enemies His footstool. We do not do this alone because His Holy Spirit is with us to lead us in this victory.

I know that things look bad right now because of all the pestilence and uprising in the nations and there will be times like that. We must not lose sight of the goal given us by Jesus; we must win the race through the lead of His Holy Spirit. We must have faith in Him like the woman and the centurion.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
