Exodus 12:12-13

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Exodus 12:12-13

Verse Text: [Exodus 12:12-13 NKJV] 12 'For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I [am] the LORD. 13 'Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you [are]. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy [you] when I strike the land of Egypt.

God’s judgement is absolute but it is tempered with mercy. The blood on the doors represented His mercy on those that followed His command in doing it.

At this time His judgement was on a kingdom that had failed to keep His commands; one being to let the Israelites go.

I am sure there were those among the Israelites that had fallen into the ways of the Egyptians; however, if they kept the Passover command then their house was spared.

God has a right to judge us for not following his commands. His most severe judgement fell on the Jews in 70 AD with the destruction of the temple.  Their whole way of life was done away with and it also had an impact on many Christians because the temple was a big part of their life as well.

We now live by His commands without the need of sacrifice because Yahshua sacrificed Himself once and for all. His promise of forgiving our sin is now complete through the cross and now all we need to do is repent and walk in His ways.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
