Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 30:16
Verse Text: [Deuteronomy 30:16 NKJV] 16 "in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
Ways: דֶּרֶךְ derek, deh'-rek; from H1869; a road (as trodden); figuratively, a course of life or mode of action, often adverb:—along, away, because of, by, conversation, custom, (east-) ward, journey, manner, passenger, through, toward, (high-) (path-) way(-side), whither(-soever).
Commandments: מִצְוָה mitsvâh, mits-vaw'; from H6680; a command, whether human or divine (collectively, the Law):—(which was) commanded(-ment), law, ordinance, precept.
Statutes: חֻקָּה chuqqâh, khook-kaw'; feminine of H2706, and meaning substantially the same:—appointed, custom, manner, ordinance, site, statute.
Judgements: מִשְׁפָּט mishpâṭ, mish-pawt'; from H8199; properly, a verdict (favorable or unfavorable) pronounced judicially, especially a sentence or formal decree (human or (participant's) divine law, individual or collective), including the act, the place, the suit, the crime, and the penalty; abstractly, justice, including a participant's right or privilege (statutory or customary), or even a style:— adversary, ceremony, charge, × crime, custom, desert, determination, discretion, disposing, due, fashion, form, to be judged, judgment, just(-ice, -ly), (manner of) law(-ful), manner, measure, (due) order, ordinance, right, sentence, usest, × worthy, wrong.
We are commanded to love God and we do that by keeping His commandments, statutes, and judgements.
His commandments are the law or what we call Torah. His statutes are appointed things that are within the law such as the dietary requirements and appointed times. Inside scripture we will also find judgements He has given, and we are to ensure that we follow them.
All of these can be considered His commandments and they have not changed since they were first given to Adam and first written down by Moses. They still apply to us.
Now, there are certain rituals within Torah that needed the Levitical priesthood and that has been gone since 70 AD with the destruction of the temple. Obviously, we cannot keep those and He does not want us to.
[John 14:15 NKJV] 15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
We are commanded to love God.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
