Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: John 1:12
Verse Text: [John 1:12 NKJV] 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Believe in Greek is pe-styü'-o and it is faith. As I have said before, in the Hebrew mindset faith is hearing and doing and it is hearing and doing His word.
We must have more than head knowledge of the existence of Yahshua.
[John 14:15 NKJV] 15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Yahshua says it right there.
Here are some examples from the Old Testament where we are commanded by Yahshua to keep His commandments:
[Exodus 15:26 NKJV] 26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I [am] the LORD who heals you."
[Leviticus 22:31 NKJV] 31 "Therefore you shall keep My commandments, and perform them: I [am] the LORD.
[Deuteronomy 4:40 NKJV] 40 "You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong [your] days in the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time."
Here are some examples from the New Testament:
[John 15:10 NKJV] 10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
[1 John 2:3-4 NKJV] 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
[1 John 3:22 NKJV] 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
[1 John 5:3 NKJV] 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
His commandments give us a way of life and knowing that Yahshua suffered, died, and was resurrected for us so that the punishment of the second death will not be upon us allows us to become the children of God and see our own resurrection.
So, live by His commandments as He does and you will be His child.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
