1 Timothy 6:17-18

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: 1 Timothy 6:17-18

Verse Text: [1 Timothy 6:17-18 NKJV] 17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 [Let them] do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,

Rich here literally means wealthy, but it also means full of the ways of the world.

Haughty is high minded; that is, they are lifted up by the ways of the world and they look down on all that they perceive are below them.

People that are attached to the things of the world tend to go after the status symbols of the world and also tend to look down on those that do not have them.

[Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV] 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

You come into this world naked and you leave it naked; somebody else will get your stuff. Instead of concentrating on the ways of the world, let His holy Spirit guide you in His ways. All you have to do is let it happen.

[Matthew 19:16-22 NKJV] 16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" 17 So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one [is] good but One, [that is], God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 18 He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear false witness,' 19 'Honor your father and [your] mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " 20 The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

This young man had many treasures in the world and money and things were his god. If we value money and things above all else, then that is all we will every have.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
