Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: 2 Peter 1:5-9
Verse Text: [2 Peter 1:5-9 NKJV] 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, [you] will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
Simon Bar-Jonah, Peter, is one of the so-called inner circle. He was one of the three apostles present at the transfiguration. This puts Peter very close to Yahshua.
Faith is pe'-stes. In the Hebrew mindset it is hearing and doing; specifically, hearing and doing His commandments.
Virtue is ä-re-ta'. Virtue is a moral goodness.
Knowledge is gno'-ses. It is the knowledge of His word.
Self-control, temperance in the KJV, is en-krä'-ta-ä. This is the virtue of one who masters His desires and passions.
Perseverance, patience in the KJV, is hü-po-mo-na'. The characteristic of a man who is unswerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings.
Godliness is yü-se'-ba-ä. Piety toward God.
Brotherly kindness, brotherly love is fe-lä-del-fe'-ä. This is fraternal affection toward your fellow man.
Love or charity in the KJV is ä-gä'-pa. It is an unconditional love.
This is a progression of things that His Holy Spirit will build in you. As you let His Holy Spirit lead you the more these attributes will manifest in you and the closer you will be to Yahshua.
Do not rely on the world to build these attributes. Pray that His Holy Spirit comes upon you and builds these things in you.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
