Genesis 1:26-27

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Genesis 1:26-27

Verse Text: [Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV] 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Image is tseh'·lem. The Strong’s definition is: צֶלֶם tselem, tseh'-lem; from an unused root meaning to shade; a phantom, i.e. (figuratively) illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative figure, especially an idol:—image, vain shew.

Resemblance is a good use of the word. We saw that when He lived among us. Outwardly He had the appearance of a human and outwardly we resemble Him. Inwardly it is much different for us.

Likeness is dem·üth'. The Strong’s definition is: דְּמוּת dᵉmûwth, dem-ooth'; from H1819; resemblance; concretely, model, shape; adverbially, like:—fashion, like (-ness, as), manner, similitude.

This outward appearance is the only thing we really have in common with Yahshua.

Dominion is rä·dä'. The Strong’s definition is: רָדָה râdâh, raw-daw'; a primitive root; to tread down, i.e. subjugate; specifically, to crumble off:—(come to, make to) have dominion, prevail against, reign, (bear, make to) rule,(-r, over), take.

To reign and rule is the correct definition. We were created to reign and rule over the earth and every living creature on it.

[Genesis 1:27 NKJV] 27 So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

This tells me that he created all mankind at once on day six of creation. This means that Genesis two is not a separate creation as some believe. Genesis two gives us more detail of the beginning of the righteous line; the line that bears Yahshua.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
