Proverbs 26:11

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Proverbs 26:11

Verse Text: [Proverbs 26:11 NKJV] 11 As a dog returns to his own vomit, [So] a fool repeats his folly.
Fool in Hebrew is kes·el'. The Biblical usage is fool, stupid fellow, dullard, simpleton, arrogant one.

Throughout the Bible the fool is both stupid and arrogant. They are not stupid in the sense of lacking mental capacity because many could be considered intelligent.

So, what does the Bible say about the fool?

[Proverbs 18:2 NKJV] 2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.

As the ESV puts it: “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” For those of you that use Facebook, I think you get this now. So many “express their opinion” without understanding the subject matter at all.

[Proverbs 29:11 NKJV] 11 A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise [man] holds them back.

This quote from one of my favorite fools, Richard Dawkins, shows this: “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

This is not only his feelings but also his opinion.

[Proverbs 1:7 NKJV] 7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge, [But] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

And this is because they rely on their own opinion and feelings instead of allowing wisdom  to develop.

[Proverbs 18:6 NKJV] 6 A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.

[Proverbs 18:7 NKJV] 7 A fool's mouth [is] his destruction, And his lips [are] the snare of his soul.

Basically, they don’t know when to just shut up.

[Proverbs 29:9 NKJV] 9 [If] a wise man contends with a foolish man, Whether [the fool] rages or laughs, [there is] no peace.

The ESV says: If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

[Proverbs 28:26 NKJV] 26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

The truth and wisdom is taught throughout scripture. We can find examples of how to handle most situations there and if we live by it and have absolute faith in Yahshua then we will inherit all of the blessing promised by it. Do not follow your heart or the ways of the world.

The following speak for themselves.

[Proverbs 14:7 NKJV] 7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, When you do not perceive [in him] the lips of knowledge.

[Proverbs 17:28 NKJV] 28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; [When] he shuts his lips, [he is considered] perceptive.

[Proverbs 23:9 NKJV] 9 Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

[Proverbs 14:16 NKJV] 16 A wise [man] fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident.

And finally:

[Psalm 14:1 NKJV] 1 To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. The fool has said in his heart, "[There is] no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

This is the ultimate condemnation of the atheist.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
