The Sabbath

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Exodus 20:8

Title: The Sabbath

Verse Text: [Exodus 20:8 NKJV] 8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

[Romans 3:1-2 NKJV] 1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what [is] the profit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.

The oracles, His word, has been preserved by the Jews, including the execution of His word. The Jews keep the Sabbath on Saturday and that is the day on which God means for us to keep it. The change to Sunday did not happen till well after the New Testament was written.

Much argument has been made as to what we can and cannot do on the Sabbath. Remember this:

[Mark 2:27 NKJV] 27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

[Exodus 20:9-10 NKJV] 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of the LORD your God. [In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates.

The Hebrew word for work is mĕla'kah. It is the conducting of business; that is, the thing that you are paid to do. Let His Holy Spirit guide you as to what this is.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
