Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 4:4
Title: The Word of God Gives Life
Verse Text: [Matthew 4:4 NKJV] 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "
And this is where it is written:
[Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV] 3 "So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every [word] that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.
And, what is His word? Where do I find them?
We find His word in what is known as the Old Testament but there is nothing old at all about it. We combine the Torah, Prophets, and Writings into the Tanakh or Old Testament. All of this contains His instructions on how to live a righteous and healthy life.
In the Old Testament we find:
[Deuteronomy 18:15-19 NKJV] 15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 "according to all you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.' 17 "And the LORD said to me: 'What they have spoken is good. 18 'I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 'And it shall be [that] whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require [it] of him.
In the Apostolic Witness to the Old Testament, or what we call the New Testament, we find:
[Acts 3:18-26 NKJV] 18 "But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 "and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 "whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 'And it shall be [that] every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.' 24 "Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. 25 "You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' 26 "To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one [of you] from your iniquities."
And this:
[Acts 7:37 NKJV] 37 "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.'
The last one being a witness by Stephen before He was stoned to death.
The New Testament confirms that Yahshua is that prophet like Moses and we are His words and He confirms that His words are in the Old Testament. We are to hear and do His word and that is the essence of faith.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
