Profiting from Trials

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: James 1:2-8

Title: Profiting from Trials

Verse Text: [James 1:2-8 NKJV] 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have [its] perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

The KJV uses temptations instead of trials but both are correct. When one is tempted one is being tried, but, not by God, but by themselves.

Remember how James defines temptation (trial):

[James 1:13-15 NKJV] 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

What do we do?

[1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV] 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God [is] faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [it].

This is where patience comes in.

If you do not understand the situation, pray; that is what verse five is saying. And verse six says that our prayers on this are to be in faith; no doubt is to be among them.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
