Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 5:1-12
Title: The Be Attitudes
Verse Text: [Matthew 5:1-12 NKJV] 1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3 "Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed [are] those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed [are] the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed [are] those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7 Blessed [are] the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed [are] those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great [is] your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
At the time the Yahshua walked among us the poor begged for their daily bread. The poor in spirit beg for more of His Holy Spirit. They want more and, honestly, that should be all of us. Even so, we know when His Holy Spirit touches us, and the inherent desire is for more.
Morn? For whom? For those that do not have His word. Morning is a deep state of grief or lamentation and those that live the Torah life do morn for the awakening of those that do not. Lamentation leads to prayer. Not all will awaken but we can be comforted in knowing that some will.
From Strong’s: Meekness toward God is that disposition of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting. In the OT, the meek are those wholly relying on God rather than their own strength to defend against injustice.
If you live by Torah then you have meekness towards God.
Righteousness is living by Torah. All of the men of Genesis five lived by Torah; Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived by Torah; and all of them were righteous. Those that hunger and thirst to live by Torah will be filled with His Holy Spirit.
Mercy is compassion; a concern for the wellbeing of our neighbors and that means doing something to help them. I know that some are not in a position to be able to do that but we can always pray.
The pure at heart are free from sin. Is that even possible in this fallen world? It must be because Yahshua would not have mentioned it if it were not.
[1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV] 7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For [the LORD does] not [see] as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
The heart is what you are, in your thought and feeling, when nobody knows but God.
[Matthew 15:18-19 NKJV] 18 "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
[Matthew 12:33-34 NKJV] 33 "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by [its] fruit. 34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The pure heart is the heart that has been refined by His Holy Spirit.
[Acts 2:2-4 NKJV] 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and [one] sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Their hearts were purified.
Who are the peacemakers? Peace, shalom. One can never have peace until that person has Yahshua because without our salvation there is no peace. A peacemaker is one that brings Yahshua into the lives of others.
Peter brought Yahshua into the life of Cornelius so Peter was a peacemaker.
[Matthew 5:10-12 NKJV] 10 Blessed [are] those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great [is] your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
I have already explained that righteousness is living by Torah but I must add that it is living by Torah in love. There are many that claim that they live by Torah but they do it as a ritual.
We know from history that there are those that have been persecuted for living by Torah. There are those being persecuted for it now. Many are being mocked and ridiculed by those that follow the bacon Jesus and mocking and ridiculing is persecution.
We also know that many terrorist organizations are actively killing those that live by Torah in love. And, it will get worse but be reconciled by this:
[1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV] 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
