Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Joshua 24:14-15
Title: Choose Life
Verse Text: [Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV] 14 "Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
In Hebrew the word fear is yare'; it means to have reverence to or be in awe of. It is the same respect we are to show our parents but much greater.
Unfortunately many believe that fear the Lord means that we should be deathly afraid of Him; a shaking in our boots kind of afraid. Yes, He can destroy us completely at any time but if we are with Him then He will not do that unless we give Him great cause.
Yahshua loves us and we should return that love by respecting Him and doing the things he asks us to do. Simply put, that is what verse fourteen is saying.
When we serve Yahshua we put away the gods of this world; money, power, esteem, etc. and we live by the commandments He gave us in Torah. Moreover, the Holy Spirit of Yahshua comes into our lives and guides us. Believe me, it is a guiding because we have a choice to accept it or not and that is what verse fifteen is all about.
Accepting the guidance of the Holy Spirit of Yahshua is a choice. If we accept that choice, then we serve Yahshua and I choose to serve Him.
Set aside the gods of this world and choose Yahshua. Live by His Torah and accept the guidance of His Holy Spirit. Choose life.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
