Today’s Bible Verse: Exodus 20:3-4
Title: No Other Gods
Verse Text: [Exodus 20:3-4 NKJV] 3 "You shall have no other gods before
Me. 4 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness [of
anything] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that
[is] in the water under the earth;
In context: [Exodus 20:3-6 NKJV] 3 "You shall have no other gods before
Me. 4 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness [of
anything] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that
[is] in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve
them. For I, the LORD your God, [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth [generations] of those
who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My
commandments.
Specifically, we are told that we are not to have any other gods before God and
yet many of us do.
If your goal in life is the pursuit of wealth, then money is your god. Careers
can be gods. Even your family can become your god. I am not saying that these
things are not important, but God must be before and in all of them.
Carved images; that is, statues, paintings, or drawings should not be made for
worship purposes. This includes crucifixes and crosses. We need to pray for
those in religions that use these things for worship purposes.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk
Torah-ly. Shalom.
Please share this with others.
