Making Tzitzits

Needed: Four white threads 40 inches in length and one blue thread 55 inches in length.
I bought Aunt Lydia S Special Value Crochet 1000yd Wht (UPC 071484038506) for the white and Aunt Lydia S Classic Crochet Sz10 Dark Royal (UPC 073650907951) for the blue. I bought these at AJ Moore but they are going out of business. These should be available at Walmart.
I made a tool to get the right length of the threads. I bought a 1x2x6 Feet piece of Red Oak (UPC 777123048317) at Lowes. I nailed two nails 55 inches apart and then one nail 40 inches from one of them into the wood.
To make the blue threads I make a loop in the blue thread and place it on one of the 55 inch nails and wind the thread several times. I then pull the thread from the bottom, the place where I started with the loop I cut through the bottom. I now have the top half around the top nail. I cut through the top and have two sets of thread about 55 inches in length. I then hang the blue threads over a hook for the blue threads on the wall.
The same process is used for the white threads except it the nails 40 inches apart that is used. I also group the white threads in batches of four and put a small binder clip on each group and hang it on a hook separate from the blue threads.
To make the Tzitzits themselves I have made another tool. I have purchased a wooden plank and two 3/16 by 1-1/2 inch tension pins. The wooden plank should be such that you can insert the tension pins two inches apart.
To make the Tzitzits:
  1. Place the blue thread over the top pin and even it out at the bottom..
  2. Place four white threads over the top pin and even out the bottom.
  3. Gather the left side of the threads together in your left hand the right side in your right hand and tie two square knots around the bottom pin.
  4. Gather all of the threads together and separate out one of the blue threads. Tie ten knots with that blue thread.
  5. Gather four white threads and a blue thread together in your left hand and four white threads and one ble thread in your left hand and tie a square knot.
  6. Gather all of the threads together and separate out one of the blue threads. Tie five knots with that blue thread.
  7. Gather four white threads and a blue thread together in your left hand and four white threads and one ble thread in your left hand and tie a square knot.
  8. Gather all of the threads together and separate out one of the blue threads. Tie six knots with that blue thread.
  9. Gather four white threads and a blue thread together in your left hand and four white threads and one ble thread in your left hand and tie a square knot.
  10. Gather all of the threads together and separate out one of the blue threads. Tie five knots with that blue thread.
  11. Gather four white threads and a blue thread together in your left hand and four white threads and one ble thread in your left hand and tie a square knot.

You now have a complete Tzitzit.
I have purchased a pack of 30 Bytiyar Small Metal 1.6 inches Carabiner Clips Dual Spring Wire Gate Snap Hooks Keychain Buckle Tool from Amazon. I use one of these for each Tzitzit. When I have four I have a complete set.
Scripture: [Numbers 15:38-39 NKJV] 38 "Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 "And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you [may] not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined,
[Deuteronomy 22:12 NKJV] 12 "You shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing with which you cover [yourself].
Some say that the individual should make them for themselves but I do not see that in these verses. So, I make them and give them away.
I make them as I have time and am in the process of making a large batch.
I only give them in person.
