I have been looking at Genesis two; specifically, the part
talking about the four rivers emanating from the garden. The question popped in
my head about where else do we see water emanating from a holy place and that
is in Ezekiel 47.
In the Bible flowing water represents God's faithful and lasting provision for
his people.
In Genesis two the waters come from the garden and in Ezekiel 47 the waters
comes from the temple; both holy places. To me the connection is simple, the
garden and the temple are in the same geographical place; Jerusalem.
In Genesis two every place the waters touched held good things and in Ezekiel
47 the water flow increases. This means that God’s provision to His people; His
elect, is good and will increase. The increase will continue until, as Psalm
110:1 tells us, His enemies will become His footstool.
[Matthew 28:18-20 ESV] 18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority
in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Since His resurrection Jesus has been on the throne; He is king over heaven and
earth. We, His reborn, must follow His command to make disciples of all of the
tribes, nations, of the world.
The governing authorities of this world have no authority except that what was
given them by God; He has complete authority over them, and they must be made
to know this or removed.
Dear Jesus, I ask you to please reinstate your law in this world. Bring an end
to the careers of those governing authorities living and governing by their own
selfishness and bring into office those that will live and govern by your ways.
I ask this in Your Name. Amen.
