Genesis 12:1-3

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Gen 12:1-3 KJV] 1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Who are the children of Abraham?

[Jhn 8:39 KJV] 39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

Those that do Abraham’s work are his children. What was Abraham’s work?

[Rom 4:3 KJV] 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

[Rom 4:22 KJV] 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

[Gal 3:6 KJV] 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

[Jas 2:23 KJV] 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Abraham’s work was his faith. Can faith be a work?

[Jhn 6:29 KJV] 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Believe: πιστεύω pisteúō, pist-yoo'-o; from G4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit; by implication, to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ):—believe(-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.

Believe here is faith and it is instilled in us by God.

Faith is not head knowledge. You can say that you have faith in something, say a chair, but until you sit in that chair you have no faith in it. Therefore, until you walk in the ways of Jesus you have no faith.

Abraham’s faith was such that he knew that God would bring his son back from the dead. He also knew that God would make him a great nation and here we are.

God has risen His Son, Jesus, from the dead. Our gospel, in which we have faith, is that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, was resurrected to defeat death, and was seen by many after His resurrection. Go tell others.

We all have a job.

[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.

This is the gospel of Jesus: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
