2 Peter 1:4-7

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [2Pe 1:4-7 KJV] 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

“having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”; that is, no longer lusting for the things that are of the world. When we are born again we are no longer of the world.

Virtue is morality.

Knowledge is the knowledge of the word of God and of Jesus as the word of God.

Temperance is self-control. In the Wrath of Kahn Spock says, “Really, Dr. McCoy. You must learn to govern your passions. They will be your undoing.” That is what self-control is all about; controlling our worldly passions.

Patience in the New Testament is the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings.

Godliness is being holy or set apart for God. Rebirth makes us this set apart.

Brotherly kindness is brotherly love. It is love for those you fellowship with.

Finally, charity is unconditional love.

These are all the characteristics of those reborn.

[Pro 24:16 KJV] 16 For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

The reborn are just but the reborn live in a fallen world. If you slip, get up, dust yourself off, repent, and pray for forgiveness.

We all have a job.

[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.

This is the gospel of Jesus: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
