Acts 5:1-5

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Acts 5:1-5 KJV] 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

Ananias and Sapphira are what we call professing Christians, but, are they reborn Christians?

As the Christian church was building in the first century, before the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in 70 AD, many Christians pledged their property to be sold and used to fund the church. After all, they were not going to be in Jerusalem for much longer and missionaries needed something in their purse to go abroad.

Back to Ananias and Sapphira. They sold their property but held back a portion for themselves. If you read through to Acts 5:10 you will find by the context that this is exactly what they did, but they lied and said that they had given the whole amount to the church. While they had lied to the church leadership they had also lied to the Holy Spirit. A true, reborn Christian would not have done that.

They also considered themselves Christians because they followed The Way but by lying to the Holy Spirit, they showed that they were not.

There are many professing Christians today that are not. Oh yes, they go to church and may even be involved in church projects or in church leadership, but they know nothing of the gospel. If you do not know and have faith in the gospel then you are not reborn. If you do know and don’t share, then you are not reborn.

Are you a professing Christian or a reborn Christian. Those that profess and are not are lying to themselves and the Holy Spirit.

We all have a job.

[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.

This is the gospel of Jesus: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I pray that God has revealed Himself to you and that you have salvation.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
