Peace to you my brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: [1 Thessalonians 4:7 KJV] For God hath not called us unto
uncleanness, but unto holiness.
Uncleanness: ἀκαθαρσία akatharsía, ak-ath-ar-see'-ah; from G169; impurity (the
quality), physically or morally:—uncleanness
Holy: ἁγιασμός hagiasmós, hag-ee-as-mos'; from G37; properly, purification,
i.e. (the state) purity; concretely (by Hebraism) a purifier:—holiness,
sanctification.
The above was the Greek for holy; however, in the Hebrew it was more like set
apart. When you consider clean and unclean, holy would be clean and set apart
from the unclean; the unclean being those still in the total depravity of sin; that
is the unsaved and the saved.
This is another argument for continuing the dietary code.
Finally, notice the language, “God has called us”. We did not go to God, He
came to us.
[Romans 3:11 KJV] There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh
after God.
We do not understand scripture on our own; God gives us the understanding.
[Acts 8:26-40 KJV] And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise,
and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza,
which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an
eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the
charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot
read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join
thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to [him], and heard him read
the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he
said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he
would come up and sit with him. The
place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the
slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his
generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered
Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself,
or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same
scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on [their] way, they
came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth
hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine
heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is
the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down
both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when
they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip,
that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip
was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he
came to Caesarea.
Notice here that God gave understanding of the scripture through Philip, so,
our understanding of Bible verses can come from others.
[2 Timothy 2:15 KJV] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Yes, we can let others help us understand scripture but we also must study it
ourselves to determine the veracity of those helping us. Basically, don’t just
take my word for it; go look for yourself.
We all have a job.
[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is
given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.
This is the gospel of Jesus: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I
declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have
received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in
memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I
delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that
he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen
of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred
brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some
are fallen asleep.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
