Luke 3:10-15

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Luke 3:10-15 KJV] And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse [any] falsely; and be content with your wages. And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

Publicans: These were the tax collectors employed by the Romans. Many had the reputation of extorting more than what they were owed.

Soldiers: They were employed by Rome to keep the peace but many had a reputation of being bullies and thugs.

The people, publicans, and soldiers heard the words of repentance from John the Baptist and came to him to be baptized. They asked him what they should do. He essentially told them to love their neighbor as themselves.

He told the people to help their neighbors in their needs, he told the tax collectors to collect only what Rome required, and the soldiers to just do their job of keeping the peace and not be a bully or thug.

It should be noted that he did not tell anyone to quit their jobs and become monks; just do their job and help their neighbor when their neighbor was in need. This should be the way it is for us today.

Please note that if we have excess and we have a neighbor in need and we help them, then there would be no need for welfare.

This is the gospel: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
