Psalm 116:7-9

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Psalm 116:7-9

Verse Text: [Psalm 116:7-9 KJV] Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, [and] my feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Walking before Jesus is walking in His presence and to be in His presence we must walk as He walks. We walk in His presence before all the living to show them what this walk is like.

[Galatians 5:22-23 KJV] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Temperance: ἐγκράτεια enkráteia, eng-krat'-i-ah; from G1468; self-control (especially continence):—temperance.

When we walk before Jesus we have the fruits of His Holy Spirit and among them is self-control. I think that speaks for itself; self-control; controlling oneself.

If there was self-control in the garden the fall would not have happened. God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but there were many other things they could have done. Imagine what it would be like now if they had the self-control to keep that one commandment.

God does not control us because if he did, we would be automatons. My grandmother used to say, “God helps those that help themselves”. And we help ourselves by self-control.

I said on FB yesterday that God is in charge and He is sovereign.

[Matthew 28:18 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Jesus is in charge but He does not control us, we control ourselves. It is totally up to us how we live our lives. Do we live righteously by walking with Jesus or do we walk in the broad way of the world? This is your choice.

Now, what is part of self-control? That is up to you to determine for yourself through prayer.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Peace.
