Matthew 10:37-38

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 10:37-38

Verse Text: [Matthew 10:37-38 KJV] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Cross: σταυρός staurós, stow-ros'; from the base of G2476; a stake or post (as set upright), i.e. (specially), a pole or cross (as an instrument of capital punishment); figuratively, exposure to death, i.e. self-denial; by implication, the atonement of Christ:—cross.

When this was penned the cross was known as an instrument of death.

We must love Jesus more than our own lives. We must be prepared to accept death for Him.

[John 14:15 KJV] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

We find His commandments in the Torah, prophets, and writings; what we would call the Old Testament. The only thing done away with is the ceremonial rituals; these require a Levitical priesthood and temple and that was destroyed in 70 AD.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Peace.
