Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Proverbs 28:27
Verse Text: [Proverbs 28:27 NKJV] 27 He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.
[Luke 6:20 NKJV] 20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: "Blessed [are you] poor, For yours is the kingdom of God.
[Matthew 5:3 NKJV] 3 "Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[Psalm 34:18 NKJV] 18 The LORD [is] near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Scholars agree that "poor in spirit" does not mean lacking in spirit, be it courage, the Holy Spirit, or religious awareness. Rather it is that poverty is not only a physical condition, but also a spiritual one. In fact, the more self-aware a person is of his or her spiritual poverty caused by the innate human condition of the sinful nature, the more one is humbly aware that they are "poor in spirit"; left to his or her own ways without Yahshua as Savior. Without Yahshua alive and active in one's soul, it remains in a completely impoverished spiritual state; once a person declares Yahshua as Lord and Savior of his or her life, Yahshua sustains them through a daily renewing of their poor spirit: [John 6:35 NKJV] 35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst..
So the poor of Proverbs 28:27 are the poor in spirit and if we feed them with His word then we will be blessed.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
