Today’s Bible Verse: Genesis 1:24-31
Title: Day Six
Verse Text: [Genesis 1:24-31 NKJV] 24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, [each] according to its kind"; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that [it was] good. 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." 29 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb [that] yields seed which [is] on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 "Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which [there is] life, [I have given] every green herb for food"; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed [it was] very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Day Six; Friday.
[Genesis 1:24 NKJV] 24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, [each] according to its kind"; and it was so.
Again God tells us what He is going to do before He does it.
[Genesis 1:25 NKJV] 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that [it was] good.
Now, note that He made the beast of the earth before he made man. This means that man is separate from the beast of the earth.
[Genesis 1:26 NKJV] 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
Now He says that He is going to make man; specifically, mankind, in His image and mankind will have dominion; that is, rule over, the earth.
[Genesis 1:27 NKJV] 27 So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Now God makes mankind. This is a full creation of every man and woman just as it was a full creation of every cow and bull and every doe and buck. There are now men and women on the earth.
[Genesis 2:15 NKJV] 15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
This means that Adam WAS NOT a separate creation and Genesis Two is a recap of Genesis One, Day Six. Adam was created on Day Six and placed into the garden on Day Six. The garden was formed on Day Six.
[Genesis 1:28 NKJV] 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
God blessed them and told them that they have dominion.
[Genesis 1:29 NKJV] 29 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb [that] yields seed which [is] on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
To the vegans out there, yes, the first humans were vegan but they were also perfect.
[Genesis 9:3-4 NKJV] 3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 "But you shall not eat flesh with its life, [that is], its blood.
This was after the flood. Many devastating things had happened to the environment during the flood with the possibility of the loss of up to half of the atmosphere. Additional things had to be introduced into our diet in order to maintain our body.
I am not bashing vegans, but I am telling the Nazi vegans to get a life. Clean animals were made part of our diet in Genesis 9:3-4.
[Genesis 1:30 NKJV] 30 "Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which [there is] life, [I have given] every green herb for food"; and it was so.
Note that before the fall all were vegan. This is not the case now as there are carnivores in nature. The fall and the flood changed much.
[Genesis 1:31 NKJV] 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed [it was] very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
And Day Six came to a close.
I might as well do Day Seven.
[Genesis 2:1-3 NKJV] 1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
All of creation was done. There would be no more creation. God ordained the seventh day as a day of rest.
He rested from all of His work as we should rest from all of ours.
[Genesis 2:4 NKJV] 4 This [is] the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Thus, the rest of Genesis Two is a recap of Genesis One with detail added of the garden and Adam and Eve; the set apart couple; the set apart head of the righteous line.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
