The Truth Shall Make You Free

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: John 8:31-36

Title: The Truth Shall Make You Free

Verse Text: [John 8:31-36 NKJV] 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How [can] You say, 'You will be made free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, [but] a son abides forever. 36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

The word of Jesus is His commandments, His Torah and we see them all throughout the Bible.

Abide in Hebrew is shakan and in Greek it is menō; it means to dwell or remain. If we abide in His word, then we dwell or live in it. We are to live our lives by His word.

Living in His word brings truth into our lives and truth is freedom.

As Jesus said, sin is bondage. Let us say that we commit the sin of adultery then we must cover the adultery up from our spouse and by doing that we tell lies. Then we have to make sure that the lies are never uncovered because if they are then the adultery will be uncovered, so we tell more lies to cover the previous lies. So, you see, we are continually working as a slave in bondage to the sin so that the sin is not discovered. But, if we live our lives by His word then His word is written on our heart by His Holy Spirit  and by that very nature we do not sin.

Living our lives by His word makes us righteous and makes us sons and daughters of God and that is true freedom.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.

Please share this with others.
