Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:8, 15
Title: The Day of the Lord
Verse Text: [1 Thessalonians 5:8, 15 NKJV] 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and [as] a helmet the hope of salvation. ... 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
When we see the word day we tend to think about the day time, the time of light; however, go back to the context of 1 Thessalonians 5:8; specifically, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11. Here the apostle is speaking of the Day of The Lord; the day when Jesus returns.
We are the people of the Day of The Lord. Further on in 1 Thessalonians we are told this about ourselves:
[1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV] 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
So, as people of the Day of The Lord we are to be calm and collected in the spirit; that is, sober and we are to put on our armor. We are the guardians of the faith and we are to lead others to our role model, savior, and master, Jesus.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
