Today’s Bible Verse: Revelation 3:20-21
Title: Overcoming
Verse Text: [Revelation 3:20-21 NKJV] 20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Overcome is nikaō in the Greek and yakol in Hebrew. It means to prevail over.
[Revelation 3:19 NKJV] 19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
This gives us a clue as to what we are to prevail over; sin.
[Acts 20:24 NKJV] 24 "But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

[2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV] 7 I have fought the good fight, I have
finished the race, I have kept the faith.
[Hebrews 12:1 NKJV] 1 Therefore we also, since we are
surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and
the sin which so easily ensnares [us], and let us run with endurance the race
that is set before us,
This overcoming is also seen as finishing a race and by 1 Corinthians 9:24 winning it.
And when we overcome we receive this prize:
[1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV] 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
This overcoming is also seen as finishing a race and by 1 Corinthians 9:24 winning it.
And when we overcome we receive this prize:
