Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 10:40
Title: He Who Receives
Verse Text: [Matthew 10:40 NKJV] 40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.
In context: [Matthew 10:40-42 NKJV] 40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 "And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold [water] in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."
Looking at our verse in context the first thing that was brought to my attention was “little ones”. The assumption here is that Jesus is speaking of children that were with Him at the time but look more closely at this.
Little ones in Greek is mikros and it also means least. The prophets and those that serve them; the righteous and those that serve them; and the disciples and those that serve them are the least in this world. They are the least or last.
[Matthew 20:16 NKJV] 16 "So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
