Peace to you my brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: [Isaiah 5:21 ESV] 21 Woe to those who are wise in their
own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!
In other words, those people that do not walk by God’s word are doomed to
failure.
When we come into this world we come in total depravity and suppress God. If we
are among His elect, He reveals Himself to us and we have a heart change. If we
are not among His elect then we continue to live in total depravity suppressing
God.
When the elect of God have a heart change they are saved. Does this mean that the
saved cannot sin? No, they can, and they do. They are convicted in their sins by
the Holy Spirit and called to repentance.
[Romans 7:15-20 ESV] 15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do
what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want,
I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it,
but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me,
that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the
ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do
not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no
longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
We all know that Paul was saved. Jesus revealed Himself to Paul and Paul had a
heart change. Yet, by his own words Paul remained a sinner with the capability
of sinning.
The thing that separates the saved from the rest of humanity is the heart
change and conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit.
The unsaved continue to suppress God in their lives. They do know that they are
in sin but they suppress it.
[Matthew 7:21-23 ESV] 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is
in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy
in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in
your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from
me, you workers of lawlessness.'
There are those that believe that they are saved because they walk down an
aisle in a church and say a prayer or somebody comes to their door and they say
a prayer but they are not saved. It is these people that Matthew was talking
about. These people continue to live in total depravity and suppress God. They
may do good works in their own eyes, but they delude themselves.
For me, God has revealed Himself to me through His word and His gospel and I
have had a heart change. I have temptation like we all do and most of the time,
with the strength of the Holy Spirit with me, I overcome the temptation. Now
and then the temptation wins because I am still fallen in this earthly state. When
temptation wins, conviction from the Holy Spirit happens and I repent of my
sin.
We all have a job.
[Matthew 28:18-20 ESV] 18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority
in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.
This is the gospel:
[1 Corinthians 15:1-6 ESV] 1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I
preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are
being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you--unless you
believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also
received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the
Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he
appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still
alive, though some have fallen asleep.
[Acts 2:22-24 ESV] 22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth,
a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God
did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know-- 23 this Jesus,
delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you
crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing
the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
[1 John 2:2 ESV] 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only
but also for the sins of the whole world.
Propitiation: ἱλασμός hilasmós, hil-as-mos'; atonement, i.e. (concretely) an
expiator:—propitiation.
This is penal substitution; that is, our sins were transferred to Jesus and His
righteous transferred to us.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I pray that God has revealed Himself to you and that you have salvation.
Remember, God is sovereign. That means that he controls everything.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
