Ecclesiastes 2:9-11

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Ecclesiastes 2:9-11 KJV] So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all [was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and [there was] no profit under the sun.

Notice this is all about Solomon because of all the “I” and “my” statements. It is all about his work and not God’s work through him.

[Isaiah 64:6 KJV] But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Even if anything Solomon had done was “righteous”, it would have been as filthy rags without God involved and that is exactly what Solomon is saying when he calls it vanity.

All of our works need to be for the glory of God; otherwise, it is a wasted effort.

OK, you say, how can I make a mundane thing like eating super for His glory? Simple, if you are with friends or family, talk about scripture. If you are by yourself, read some scripture.

[1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV] Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Every moment without God is a wasted moment. If you are filling the tank, say a prayer. If you are waiting at the checkout, say a prayer. Seize the moment for God.

We all have a job.

[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.

This is the gospel of Jesus: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
