Psalms 34:17-19

Peace to you my brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: [Psalm 34:17-19 KJV] [The righteous] cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many [are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

The righteous crying means that they are in prayer. Being righteous; that is, born again, Jesus hears them and brings them out of their tribulation.

A person with a broken heart is not a person that is feeling bad. In the Hebraic mindset the heart is the mind or intellect. So, the person with the broken heart is the one that has accepted that they are God’s. This is the same concept for the person with the contrite spirit.

When our heart is broken and our spirit contrite; that is, when we truly realize we are God’s, then we are born again.

Tying it all together, a broken heart and contrite spirit means that we realize that we are God’s. This brings us to be born again and that brings us to righteousness. In righteousness our prayers are heard and we are delivered from our tribulation.

How do we come to a broken heart and contrite spirit? Through the Holy Spirit God draws us to Him.

[John 6:44 KJV] No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

This gives us a broken heart and a contrite spirit and then the Holy Spirit works in us.

We all have a job.

[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.

This is the gospel: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
