Peace to you my brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: [1 Timothy 5:3-5 KJV] Honour widows that are widows
indeed. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew
piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable
before God. Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and
continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
Honor in Greek: τιμάω timáō, tim-ah'-o; from G5093; to prize, i.e. fix a
valuation upon; by implication, to revere:—honour, value.
Honor in Hebrew: כָּבַד kâbad, kaw-bad'; or כָּבֵד kâbêd; a primitive root; to
be heavy, i.e. in a bad sense (burdensome, severe, dull) or in a good sense
(numerous, rich, honorable); causatively, to make weighty (in the same two
senses):—abounding with, more grievously afflict, boast, be chargeable, × be
dim, glorify, be (make) glorious (things), glory, (very) great, be grievous,
harden, be (make) heavy, be heavier, lay heavily, (bring to, come to, do, get,
be had in) honour (self), (be) honourable (man), lade, × more be laid, make
self many, nobles, prevail, promote (to honour), be rich, be (go) sore, stop.
In context, take care of.
[Exodus 20:12 KJV] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long
upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
We are to take care of our parents.
Returning to 1 Timothy 5:3-5, true widows have nobody to take care of them; no
children or nephews. If they have children or nephews, they are to take care of
them; otherwise, society is to take care of them.
In the Hebrew society the man was the sole bread winner. Women could earn some
money by making garments and selling them but that was only to be a small supplement
to the family income. Once the husband died her children or nephews were to
support her and if she had none, society was to support her.
The Hebrew society was all about family. The family was the cornerstone of
their life.
The family concept is being destroyed by modern society. We trust our children
in the care of strangers in indoctrination centers rather in the home where
they belong because both parents, if there are two parents, have to work to
maintain what we perceive we need in a home.
The question is, do we really need all this … junk? Is a TV, car, or computer
really necessary? There really is nothing worth watching on TV, so why have
one? Granted that without computers there would be no FaceBook and you would
not be reading this, but I could just as easily make this available through a
mailing list or you could just pick up your Bible and read it. As to cars, the
world was really healthier without them and business was local.
As I said, modern society and everything attached to it is destroying the
family unit and we need to start a trend to reverse this. The first step is to
stop sitting on our hands and waiting for a rapture that may never come in our
lifetime. The next step is to train good disciples of Jesus to be leaders in
our society and reverse the trend to the left and Marxism.
We all have a job.
[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is
given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
All of the disciples of Jesus are to spread His word and the gospel.
This is the gospel: [1 Corinthians 15:1-6 KJV] Moreover, brethren, I declare
unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and
wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I
preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you
first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according
to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the
twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom
the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Peace.
