Matthew 5:44-45

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: Matthew 5:44-45

Verse Text: [Matthew 5:44-45 NKJV] 44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Enemies: ἐχθρός echthrós, ech-thros'; from a primary ἔχθω échthō (to hate); hateful (passively, odious, or actively, hostile); usually as a noun, an adversary.

The question here is who is your adversary? Is it someone you have made your adversary or is it someone that has made you their adversary by their own action?

Honestly, we should not be making adversaries of others be we cannot help it if someone makes us their adversary by their own action.

How does one make us their adversary?
1. When we come to them with His word in His name, they reject us. By doing that they are also are rejecting Him. In this case we can simply walk away.
2. They abuse or persecute us because we walk in His ways. Again, they are rejecting Him in us. And, again, walking away is the simple solution.
3. The slander us by offering up false testimony. This is what happened to Stephen. In this case we continue to walk in His ways to act as a role model for others and to show that the testimony being offered is false.

We have not made these people our enemy, they have made us theirs. We should continue to love them and treat them as we would ourselves. We should harbor no hatred for them because they do not understand what they are doing.

[Luke 23:34 NKJV] 34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Go forth and spread this good news.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
