Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Isaiah 1:16-20
Verse Text: [Isaiah 1:16-20 NKJV] 16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. 18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; 20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
[Isaiah 1:16-17 NKJV] 16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.
Evil is rä·ah'. Literally, sin is evil. When we do evil we sin and when we sin we do evil. Sin is the transgression of the law and thus, so is doing evil.
In the KJV we have: [Isaiah 45:7 KJV] 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].
This does not mean that God is transgressing the law, it means that He has created the person that does evil. It was the person’s choice that made them evil, not their creation by God.
So, returning to Isaiah 1:16-17, we are to cease sinning, transgressing the law, and walk in the ways of Yahshua by living by Torah as He does and having faith in Him as our master and Savior. In doing so we will by nature rebuke the oppressor, defend the fatherless, and plead for the widow.
[Isaiah 1:18 NKJV] 18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
“Come now, and let us reason together” is a calling for all of us to come together under His Holy Spirit. We know that we are to come together in a holy congregation three times but that does not mean that we can’t do more. During this time we are to study His word.
[Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV] 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for [His] good pleasure.
As we reason together we learn and work out our salvation; that is, learn the path that Yahshua walks. In so learning we will walk away from sin.
[Isaiah 1:19-20 NKJV] 19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; 20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
There are blessings for those that keep the way of Yahshua and curses for those that do not.
Go forth and spread this good news.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
