Shalom brothers and sisters.
Today’s Bible Verse: Isaiah 58:13-14
Title: Dedicate The Sabbath to God
Verse Text: [Isaiah 58:13-14 NKJV] 13 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, [From] doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy [day] of the LORD honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking [your own] words, 14 Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken."
Turn away your foot has been spoken of as travel but look at this:
[Exodus 3:5 NKJV] 5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand [is] holy ground."
And this:
[Mark 2:27 NKJV] 27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
The sabbath is a time when we need to respect God; yes, He made it for us but it is a time, above all times, to give reverence to Him. As he told Moses, we must cast off our old dirty shoes, ways, and honor this day He made for us by being in His word.
The sabbath is a set apart day. We must not profane it by doing the things we want to do but by taking rest and learning His ways and we find His ways in what is known as the Old Testament.
I know that there are some that will reject the idea of digging into the Bible on the sabbath. That is the spirit of rebellion in them. Honestly, it becomes a pleasure when you want to. Use the sabbath to pray away that spirit of rebellion and open up His word.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
