Pursue Righteousness

Shalom brothers and sisters.

Today’s Bible Verse: 2 Timothy 2:22-26

Title: Pursue Righteousness

Verse Text: [2 Timothy 2:22-26 NKJV] 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and [that] they may come to their senses [and escape] the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to [do] his will.

As has been stated before, faith is hearing and doing His word in love and the righteous person lives by faith. The righteous person has peace.

Youthful lusts are those lusts of the body that were on us before awakening in faith. We flee them when we come to faith and with that comes righteousness, love, and peace. Through this we move toward the pure heart that we will have upon resurrection in Yahshua.

We are to avoid foolish and ignorant disputes like those over the calendar, when the day begins, the size and shape of our realm, and so on.

Verse twenty-four is the hardest for me as I am categorized as an alpha male. It is hard for me not to quarrel with someone that I feel is wrong, but I know that I must let the Holy Spirit guide me in this. All quarreling does is set the other person at odds with me and may cause them to harden their heart; I may be right, and they may be wrong, but they will become like Pharaoh.

Here devil is Strong’s G1228; diabolos. Many want to say that this is the modern concept of satan; that is a spiritual fallen angel hellbent on the destruction of mankind but if you look at the word it actually means false accuser.  While the being we have come to know as satan may be a false accuser, diabolos is really any false accuser.

False accusers have many snares they can inflict on the innocent and through these snares can make even the innocent look guilty.

[Luke 23:2 NKJV] 2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this [fellow] perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King."

All of these men were devils. We know where it led for Yahshua.

There are devils in Christian clothes that accuse those that live by Torah as being judaizers and legalists. Like Peter when confronted by the Jews about fellowshipping with gentiles, many of us tend to try to conform back to the ways of the devils and become hooked in their snare and are taken captive of the old ways. This is what verse twenty-six is speaking of. Don’t let it happen to you; hold your ground.

I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk Torah-ly. Shalom.
