Today’s Bible Verse: Galatians 6:6-10
Title: Teachers
Verse Text: [Galatians 6:6-10 NKJV] 6 Let him who is taught the word share in
all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked;
for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh
will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the
Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for
in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have
opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the
household of faith.
I have seen commentaries indicating that verse six teaches that those that
teach the word should be compensated or paid for their work. If we look closely
at this verse, the NKJV says “share in all good things” and the KJV says
communicate. Communicate in Greek is koinōneō and it means to be in fellowship
with. Thus, verse six is saying that the one taught and the teacher should be
in fellowship.
In Hebrew fellowship is chabar and in Greek it is koinonia; in both cases it
communicates a meaning to be intimately be bound together.
In this regard, we should be in fellowship with our teachers and if we identify
them as false teachers then we need to move away from them.
[1 Timothy 6:3-5 NKJV] 3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to
wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine
which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed
with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling,
evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of
the truth, who suppose that godliness is a [means of] gain. From such withdraw
yourself.
Our teachers need to be teaching from scripture and teaching from anything
outside scripture will only sow corruption. This is what verse seven and eight
is telling us in today’s passage. Essentially, stay away from ministries that
are teaching form extrabiblical books like the Book of Enoch, the Book of Jasher,
the Book of Jubilees, and so on. We need to be vigilant in identifying these
false teachers because they do mix scripture with falsehood.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. May the rest of your day be blessed. Walk
Torah-ly. Shalom.
Please share this with others.
