Today’s Bible Verse: Proverbs 15:1
Title: A Soft Answer Turns Away Wrath
Verse Text: [Proverbs 15:1 NKJV] 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
In the words of Adam Clarke, kindness produces kindness and rage produces rage.
Have you ever noticed that when you have a smoldering fire and you poke at it you reignite it? This is usually the way it is when someone lashes out at you in anger and begins to calm down and then you lash back at them with your own anger.
[Proverbs 15:2 NKJV] 2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
I know that these are difficult situations and I have been in them. We all need to let the Holy Spirit of Jesus guide us through them and be the wise person.
From the Pulpit Commentary: Two things are here to be observed: an answer should be given - the injured person should not wrap himself in sullen silence; and that answer should be gentle and conciliatory.
